known is the .300 Weatherby Magnum that is based on .300 H&H Magnum case with a double-radius shoulder. During the early 1950s, he took his .300 case and necked it down to ac-cept 6.5mm/.264-inch bullets, but for several reasons that cartridge was not added to the Weatherby line, so it be-came a wildcat and has enjoyed a ded - icated following.
Oct 13, 2011 · Personally i like the slower powders for the 300 win mag, but your getting great velocity out of the rl17. I shoot Retumbo using the 185 Bergers and my velocity is 3030, Lapua brass Fed primer. I would like to try N560, or you could do it for both of us, its the same burn rate as the H4831sc/ Ar2213sc but should give some extra velocity.
Federal 300 Win Mag Brass
Aug 21, 2009 · It seems like H4831 should be a good powder for a .300 Win Mag, but it looks like when you start to get near the max load with a 180gr bullet, it's a compressed load. It looks like H1000 is the same way.
Hodgdon temperature extreme powder, Federal 215M (match magnum) primer, HORNADY brass. 212 ELD-X runs 2860 fps in 26″ barrel. Price per 100 rounds. How we load our custom match grade ammo with the powder charge accurate to within .02 grains:
Mar 13, 2020 · The SAMMI spec chamber will put the max OAL with a 215 Berger at roughly 3.735”. The case has an H2O capacity of 99.0 gr. and that is a 7 grain advantage over the 300 Winchester Magnum (this becomes important later). So with the LRKM spun up and ready to roll it was time to start load development.
So a .300 Weatherby Magnum round exits the barrel with kinetic energy equal to the energy required for linear vertical displacement of 4070 pounds through a one foot distance, while a .300 Winchester Magnum round exiting the barrel has energy equal to the amount required to displace 3520 pounds over the same one foot distance.
Jan 04, 2011 · That shocked me. In theory you can do a bit better with a .300 Winchester Magnum because, despite its short case, its short neck and straight case give it useable powder capacity of 79.5 grains of water to the .300 H&H's 72.2 grains. In theory, too, the .300 Winchester Magnum's shorter, fatter case gives it more efficiency.
